RPM FAQ
How is RPM calculated?
RPM = earnings ÷ views × 1,000. Example: $45 on 15,000 views is 45 ÷ 15,000 × 1,000 = $3 RPM.
What does RPM stand for?
Revenue per mille, i.e. revenue per 1,000 views. Mille is Latin for thousand.
What is the difference between RPM and CPM?
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before the platform's share. RPM is what reaches you, measured across all views. That is why RPM is almost always lower than CPM.
Where do I find my real RPM?
On YouTube in YouTube Studio under Analytics → Revenue. On TikTok in the Creator Rewards dashboard. Numbers from blogs or viral videos rarely match your channel.
Why is my RPM so low on Shorts?
Shorts and short TikToks are paid differently from long videos and usually earn much less per view. Calculate long videos and Shorts separately.
