Formulas used (simplified)

  • Launch = domain + design + development + legal setup + assets + other
  • Launch with contingency = launch × (1 + contingency %)
  • Monthly burn = ops fixed + marketing
  • Conversions = visitors × (conversion % / 100)
  • Gross revenue = conversions × revenue per conversion
  • Variable costs = gross revenue × variable %
  • Operating profit = gross − variable − monthly burn
  • Monthly net = operating profit − tax reserve on positive profit
  • Payback months = launch with contingency ÷ monthly net (if net > 0)
  • Break-even visitors ≈ monthly burn ÷ contribution per visitor

FAQ

Are default costs realistic?
Defaults are mid-range planning placeholders (DIY vs agency differs hugely). Replace every field with quotes from your freelancers, hosts, and tools.
What does payback mean here?
Months to recover launch spend from monthly net. If monthly net is zero or negative, payback is not applicable until the site covers its burn.
Does this include taxes or legal setup?
Only as optional cost and reserve fields you type in. It does not file taxes, check compliance, or replace a lawyer or tax advisor.
